We did it!!!! We wrapped up another fantastic school year!!! We are now 7th and 8th graders!!!! We are sad to see this year go but are excited to start another great year!!!!
We had the HUGE task of moving our ENTIRE huge room down three flights of stairs. Well we did it- it was not easy but we are excited to be located with the rest of the middle school and not on the hottest floor on earth! We are also excited because our teacher is painting a very special quote on the wall for us over the summer! Here are a few shots of our new room before we re-decorate!~
Excuse our mess- it is a work in progress!
This week we had our annual awards ceremony – we all got awards and really enjoyed having family come spend the afternoon with us in our beautiful and historic auditorium.
We had a lot of really fun activities this last week of school! For everyone who earned it (we all did) we got to watch a movie this week – it was so much fun!!!
Today Miss B’s husband bought us a pizza party!!!! Renell and Eva’s mom brought us some really yummy snacks!
Last but not least- we found a very special place to hang our mural!!!!! Welcome to Miss B’s new room and welcome to a new school year!
Our big beautiful room is packed! It looks kind of sad with all our art work and school work removed from the walls. We have spent two amazing years in room 303 and will miss it. We are happy for the third grade special education room that will be moving in- we loved learning in here- even if it was HOT!!!! 🙂
We are moving to the first floor with the rest of the middle school. We are moving into an equally large and bright room that is on a corner so we will get amazing breezes and sun!!! We are sure we will love it as much once we work our decorating magic on the room! We have already been planning and have chosen a theme! Outdoor chic! Miss B bought some cool new furniture that she will be painting this summer. We picked the color blue as our main color since the walls are yellow!
We have had so many fantastic adventures this last year! We are sad to see the year end but are excited to be together again for middle school! We are already planning our new educational adventures and field trips! Miss B took us outside yesterday and we took pictures to remember sixth grade and all gave a favorite memory from this year.
Daqwan- “My favorite part of this year was when we had a snowball fight and Miss B joined in to! ”
Marshon- “My favorite parts of this year were all our projects and reading activities we did. I learned so much math from Miss B too! We had a caring room and I have many good memories of here”
Kevin- ” I remember all the good times we had in this room and with Miss B. We learned a lot and had fun doing it. I remember all our art”
Chasity- “I will remember our classes and how interesting they were. I will also remember all the cool art incentives and math cooking! ”
Eva- “I will remember all the cooking and fun we had, and the room, it was really pretty. We have been in this room since 5th grade. I have so many good memories that I can’t put them all down! ”
D.J.- “I will remember the race track Miss B made for our behavior incentives. It was fun and really cool. I will remember all the love and how much fun we had”
Renell- “I will remember all our learning projects and fun! I will remember how great this room was and all the good times we had in it!”
Here are some of our favorite shots of this year!
Next year we will have a new place to hang our special mural-
For this week’s art lesson Miss B wanted to try something she found on Pinterest! We worked really hard on behavioral and academic goals in order to earn the shirt making lab! We all finally made our goals and set off on an adventure we will never forget!
First we needed to gather the needed supplies- we needed a white cotton t-shirt, rubbing alcohol, a set of Sharpie Brand permanent markers, cups, rubber bands, and an eye dropper.
We began by sectioning off areas of our shirts by placing the cotton fabric over a cup and placing a rubber band around the rim of the cup.
After we had our areas sectioned off we drew abstract designs with the markers
Here is a close up shot showing this step
After we had our drawing complete we dropped 10-15 drops of rubbing alcohol on our circles and let it dry. As it drys the alcohol causes the ink in the marker to bleed and forms really awesome tie dye patterns!!!!!
After the areas are dry we took off the rubber bands and let the shirts cure for a day with a sheet of cardboard in the shirts just in case!!!!
After a day Miss B heat set them in the dryer for 10 minutes and now they are ready to wear on our last day of school!!!!!
Check out our finished product! We LOVE them!!!!!
Today we created another blog! Kidblog.org is an amazing site that allows a teacher to create blogs for each student and link them all into one page. KidBlog is private and only the class is able to view and post comments. Our idea is that if we use these blogs instead of a traditional notebook journal we can learn the skills needed in order to better prepare us for high school and the technology dependent “real world”. We posted our first entries today and are excited that we will be able to communicate with each other over the summer! Here are some photos of us creating our pages and writing our first post!
We are in the final stretch of the 2012-2013 school year – just two and half more weeks!!!!! Until our next post- see you!!!!
