Learning news for the weeks of 2/11-3/8/2013

Hello families and friends of Room 303!!!!

Sorry to be behind on our weekly posts! We have been SO very busy and want to keep you updated on the amazing learning opportunities that have occurred since we last posted!

We are well into the third quarter already! Time sure has flown this school year. Progress reports went home Wednesday March 6, 2013. Please ask your child about the progress reports if you have not seen it.

We ended our Science Unit on Paleontology and Geologic Time with an amazing field trip to the Field Museum!!!! We are so very lucky to have such world class museums right in our back yard!!!! We spent a day exploring the exhibits and seeing and experiencing what we have been studying this past month!! Check out some of our pictures!

In math we have been working on Positive and Negative Integers and have figured out how they work when we add, subtract, multiply and divide them. We learned absolute value and how they apply to real life! Check out some photos of our human number line lab!

In Reading we have been learning how to fully use the skill “Inferencing” We did a great lab called “What’s in Mrs. B’s Bags” Our teacher brought in objects in bags and we had to infer what the objects say about the person who owns them and then we had to put all our clues together and guess who the people were! We have also been playing “Inference Charades” Check out our photos from these labs

In Social Studies we completed Canada and became travel agents. We are about to start Latin America!!! Stay tuned!!!!
